The iPad 2 has been out for nearly 10 months now, and cases and accessories abound. One particularly interesting category that still seems to be pathetically sparse is the iPad 2 Keyboard case. So many companies have tried and failed to make a successful combination of the iPad 2, a bluetooth keyboard, and a nifty case. Most often, they end up skimping on the most important feature: the keyboard! While it boggles the mind as to why so many companies are resorting to cheap components for such a high end device, we have managed to dig up a few of the top iPad 2 keyboard cases around that are worthy contenders. Check inside for details!

ZaggFolio iPad 2 Case

Let’s start with the most recently released ZaggFolio first. This is a slick folio case that combines a folio with Zagg’s new ZaggKeys SOLO keyboard. You can read our full ZaggFolio review here. Despite the initial issues they had with some early batches of the folio not latching correctly, this problem has been fixed, and it now has made it to the top of our list of best iPad 2 keyboard cases. If Zagg did just one thing right with this case, it was not skimping on the keyboard. It is easy to type on and a joy to use. The carbon fiber exterior is a bit slick, but looks great and stands up to some hefty abuse. Overall, we really like this case. The ZaggFolio is available for $99.

Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2

Before the ZaggFolio came out, Zagg had another hit on their hands with the ZaggMate (now called the Logitech Keyboard Case). You can read our glowing ZaggMate review here. This case is still one of the coolest things we’ve seen come out of the iPad accessory world so far. It’s aluminum frame matches the iPad 2 perfectly, and it’s keyboard is just awesome. The iPad 2 rests firmly in place face down, and turns it into a solid block of stylish brushed aluminum. Some complained that it felt like you were typing in a box, but we never noticed that as we used it extensively. To this day, we still cannot decide if we like the ZaggMate or the ZaggFolio better! The ZaggMate is available for $99.

ClamCase iPad 2 Keyboard Case

The ClamCase is a pretty nifty case that essentially turns your iPad 2 into a touch screen Macbook Air. On the bottom you have a very nice full bluetooth qwerty keyboard with 14 special function keys and plenty of space to put your hands. On the top goes your iPad 2, and the whole thing closes with a nice sturdy hinge. We really like this case and think it has a lot of potential. The downside is the price, this case clocks in at $149. But if you can get over the price, and always dreamed of having a black Macbook Air with a touchscreen, then the ClamCase is the case for you! Get the ClamCase for iPad 2 for $149.

New Trent Airbender iPad 2 Case

The New Trent Airbender iPad 2 keyboard case is pretty darn cool. The iPad 2 fits securely in a leather and tpu housing that holds the iPad firmly in place, and moves to provide multiple viewing angles. Not only does the case allow the iPad to move back and forth, it also rotates so you can type in portrait or landscape modes! Adding a bit of luxury, the Airbender is backed with a grippy black leather that looks and feels great. The keyboard itself is on a hinge to slide back and forth with the iPad, and it has a ton of special iOS specific buttons as well. We really like this case, and have yet to find a downside to it! Plus it’s super cheap! Check out the New Trent Airbender for $49!

Adonit Writer 2 iPad Keyboard Case

Last but not least we have the Adonit Writer 2. Similar in design to the ClamCase, the iPad sits in a plastic housing attached to a hinged bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard is very nicely made, and so is the case itself. Instead of turning your iPad into a laptop, this feels more like it keeps the folio feel, while providing a keyboard that works at multiple angles. The tray is made from plastic though and isn’t exactly drop resistant, so some have complained that they broke it when they dropped their iPads. There’s an easy solution for this though: don’t drop your iPad!! Overall this is a stylish and high quality iPad keyboard case worth of a place on this list. Check out the Adonit Writer 2 for $99.
