The TAPE Cork iPad sleeve is another eco friendly iPad case for all you Green thumbed Captain Planet fans out there. Sustainable furniture designer and quirky South African Ryan Frank has teamed up with a UK independant record label TAPE to make this new green iPad case. When we say green, we mean it. This is a blatantly green case, one that practically shouts “I love the Earth and all things sustainable and kind of ugly!” But seriously, just ugly enough to be cool, this cork iPad sleeve is starting to grow on us…

Wonder if I could recork my wine bottle with it…

Originally Ryan Frank joined forces with TAPE to design a distinctive record sleeve in his own special corky way. This was so successful it led to iPhone and laptop sleeves also being produced. What he has made now is a conscience free cool iPad sleeve. The cork is sourced from FSC approved woodlands (that’s the Forest Stewardship Council established in 1993 for all you dirty ignorant polluters out there, click the link to learn more) in Portugal. It is assembled in the UK to cut transportation costs and add green points to their high score.

The sleeve is super light weight and made from fabric backed cork which offers quite a bit of protection. The sleeve itself features cool colored stitching on the outside with the distinctive TAPE logo. The top flap closes with a snap button closure to make sure your iPad doesn’t slip out.

At first glance it’s hideous. On second glance it’s just plain ugly. On third glance… suddenly it’s kind of cool and you must have one to hug and cuddle and love. Kind of like those hairless cats… adorable, disgusting, allergy-friendly felines… but I digress.

This sleeve really speaks for itself. It’s minimalist, it’s quirky, it’s environmentally responsible, and it’s available here: TAPE Records

Is this not available for the iPad anymore? It seems to only show a case for the iPhone/iPod and for laptop computers – and not in the different coloured stitching.
