There are literally tons of iPad cases coming out every day. New models and designs are being announced by all of the major accessory companies and many of the smaller ones. Most of these cases though seem to be similar- they are all designed to be sleeves or pouches, without many unique features to set them apart. In a word: BOOORING. Very few have been able to match the ingenious design of the iPad. One company that has released cases that are worthy of protecting the iPad, are the cases released by Happy Owl Studios. Read our review below…
This is another example of crowd sourcing gone right. Our first crowd sourced iPad case was the Quriky Cloak for iPad. Happy Owl Studios is a small company that has put a lot of thought into what their customers really want. They have created the Clutch and Wallet iPad cases that are both compact and beautiful. With designs fit for both men and women, these cases have been designed to protect you iPad, and also any essentials that you want to have with you.
The iPad clutch has been designed so as to protect your iPad from all sides. It has been designed to look like a clutch (which for those of you who do not know is a purse with out a strap), with a folio flap that folds over the front of the case. The flap is then secured with a sturdy snap button. The flap, on the inside, has room for storing your little essentials that you may need in your day-to-day life, such as cards and documents. The iPad clutch is able to hold quite a few things, while still keeps it’s trim profile. Judging from the pictures, the case will be released in baby blue and a ruby red color. There has been no price released as of it as it is still in the development phase, though you can be sure that any modern woman that are always on the go will want this iPad case.
Also to be released soon is the “Wallet Deluxe”, which is a more manly case that is designed to be similar to the Clutch. It is made out of black leather, giving it a more executive look and feel. Just like the Clutch, the case has a flap that will fold over so as to make a decent stand for your iPad.
Check out the new photo’s at Happy Owl i pad case just posted _ they have completely changed the designed design so it now looks like a cheap knock off off what was originally advertised. I am very disappointed with what they have done to the design and will canceling my order…
DISAPOINTED
I agree the new photographs are nothing like the original photographs. The new photographs look cheap like something on the table at K mart.
Unbelievale and Happy Owl is going to become the Unhappy Owl
I already cancelled my order. I was waiting since April for it. I am fed up. And I don’t like the new designs. I give this one a rating of -1.
I ordered my Happy Owl Wallet in mid-May and I got it last week. The delay was a test of patience. But the case is great. The case holds the iPad, my phone, MiFi, adapter cable, and pens. My bluetooth keyboard also fits, but it’s a bit snug with the keyboard, so I’m not keeping that in the case for now.
It’s great. I used to have to carry all of that in a larger bag, have very full pockets, or juggle it all in my hands.
It’s an excellent case.
(review first posted on FB)
My wait is over I finally got my black wallet. It is very soft and feels well made (it is only 2 days old so I’ll keep you posted). All and all a good product. I did hold back 1 star for 4 minor design flaws.
1) Both internal zippers when closed sit on top of the phone pocket. So if you have an iphone that means the metal zipper heads are right on the screen. I never planned on putting my phone in there but if you are I’d face your phone into the case. This way the back of the phone is against the zipper head or leave the 2 internal pockets unzipped.
2) The internal zippers make a mark in the leather and over time I’m think this will become permanent. In the next version maybe these zippers could be replaced with velcro??
3) The outer zipper that closes the internal area is one way. I think it would be better if this was a two zipper. This way if you had you iphone in the internal pocket you could have the headset cord come out though the an opening in the zipper. Also you could crack it open to get a business card out without opening the whole case up.
4) The snaps I think should be the magnetic kind. It is a pain after you slide the strap through and then have to line up the snap. Worst thing is that you have to press down on the screen of the ipad. I know that the screen is protected by a few layers but it still makes me leery pushing down on the screen.
These are minor flaws in what is a very good case!! Keep on hooting!

Got my Wallet last week. Was very disappointed in the quality of leather. Even the enter card board was flemsy which made the ends turn up. I don’t think that would have been problem if the leather was of a more firmer quality. I didn’t like that whatever u put in the wallet side left an imprint that could maybe eventually wear or tear with time.
I must admit the concept is a good one.
I bet with alittle more thought or! maybe partnering with a well established leather goods company you might have a winner:)
