Right out of the gate Zagg, our perennial favorite case maker here at iPad Accessories, announced a complete line-up of their products for the “new iPad”. We’ve sang our praises before in a series of hands-on reviews. Since the form factor is close to that of the iPad 2 (but they are not directly compatible) we feel safe in giving our stamp of approval to whatever Zagg accessory catches your fancy. Read on for a quick recap of their whole product line-up! Right now shipping is free on orders on their whole new iPad line-up!Sitting at the top of our list are two great keyboard cases: the newer ZaggFolio, and the slightly older ZaggMate aka the Logitech Keyboard case. Make no mistake though, both are the best Bluetooth keyboards on the market today. They feature a great tactile feel, iPad specific hotkeys, and a no-compromise keyboard layout.
Latch issues plagued early models of the ZaggFolio, but Zagg was quick to address the deficiency, and we did a follow-up review of a second-generation model to verify that the latch was indeed fixed. The Zaggfolio features a polyurethane outside covering the front and back of the iPad. The case converts quickly and easily into a solid keyboard stand. The case is available in no less than 7 colors, including a black carbon fiber style. For the discerning iPad consumer there are also 3 color choices in leather. Even the keyboard has 3 colors choices, silver, black, and white, making the combinations possible mathematically staggering. No matter the color choice, the choice is clear, the new ZaggFolio is a case worthy of the new iPad. It can be found here for $99.99 (for polyurethane) or $129.99 (with leather). Just the keyboard is available for $69.99 and has an integrated stand to work right out of the box! Be sure to check out our full review of the ZaggFolio iPad 2 version here.
The Logitech Keyboard case (for the new iPad and the iPad 2) aka the ZaggMate (for the original iPad) was released to numerous awards and praise in late 2010. At the time of release there had been some half-hearted attempts at keyboard cases by various manufacturers but Zagg finally got the combination right. Pairing a beautiful brushed aluminum case with the aluminum back of the iPad created a heavenly combination like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or French fries and ketchup, or a tub of buttered popcorn and a solid movie. The Keyboard case features a Logitech keyboard (so you know it’s sweet!) that easily pairs to the iPad via Bluetooth. An internal battery goes weeks without charging, and charges easily with an included USB cable. The keyboard features a great keyboard feel, iPad specific hotkeys and a layout that you’re used to. It can be purchased here for $99.99 straight from Zagg. Be sure to check out our full review of the Logitech Keyboard Case iPad 2 version here. We think the combo looks crazy good!
Anyone who has ever owned a mobile device knows that scratches on the screen are a major bummer. With the new iPad, the screen is arguably the only interface to the device, so protecting the screen from swirls and scratches is a must. Why not wrap the screen in military grade protection? The InvisibleSHIELD material has been battle tested in its previous life by protecting the blades of military helicopters. New with the announcement of the iPad 3 comes Zagg’s reformulation of the war-hardened design. The InvisibleSHIELD HD brings advanced clarity and a glass like feel to the mix, quieting complaints of a sticky feel and hazy look. Do your iPad a favor and have a Zagg InvisibleSHIELD ready before the iPad 3 ships. The InvisibleSHIELD HD is $34.99 with free shipping. You can always send in an old skin for a replacement FOREVER!
If cases and keyboards sounds like too much bulk be sure to check out Zagg’s line-up of skins. Find nearly any design or pattern you could ever think of with ZaggSkins. If you can’t find it you can even create it! ZaggSkins start at a cool $19.99.
Zagg LeatherSkins bring the refined feel of genuine leather to the back of your iPad. The skins are easy to apply and are directly compatible with your Apple Smart Cover. There is also a faux-suede material that feels like the smart cover. We really enjoy the pairing, like a Filet Mignon and a fine Cabernet Sauvignon, the two match perfectly together. LeatherSkins start at $39.99 and can be bought here.
Finally, for the sports fans out there are the Zagg SportLEATHER. No matter if you’re a Football, Soccer, Baseball, or Basketball fan there is a skin designed especially for you and your iPad! SportLEATHER is only $39.99 so be sure to pair it with an InvisibleSHIELD for ultimate protection.
Zagg also has you covered with plenty of iPad 3 accessories! Of special note is their redesigned ZaggSparq 2.0 battery pack. Great for the busy iPadder on the go, the ZaggSparq packs enough juice to fill your iPad over halfway full at the same rate as the wall charger making even the longest journey possible. It is also compatible with any portable device that can be charged via USB. Zaggsparqs are moving fast at $99.99, so get one today!
