OtterBox is one of our favorite companies for iPad accessories. They are the industry leaders when it comes to iPad protection. In the past we’ve had the immense pleasure of reviewing their Otterbox Commuter for iPad, Otterbox Defender for iPad, Otterbox Defender for iPad 2, and the cool Latch iPad 2 accessory. Now they are bringing their popular Reflex series over from the iPhone to the iPad, and today we are reviewing the iPad 2 Reflex Case. Built with the latest and greatest in protection technology, complete with crumple zones, screen protector, built in stand, and more… this is a hot case. Check out our review inside!

Voted Safest In It’s Class For 2011

The iPad 2 Reflex series case is designed to be the perfect balance of protection and contemporary styling. Taking a page from the auto industry, they have designed this case to be incredibly protective without adding a ton of bulk. Instead of a thick rigged frame, the Reflex case for iPad 2 has 4 crumple zones around each corner. When it is dropped, these zones absorb the shock and disperse the energy away from the center so that the tablet inside is perfectly safe.

They have a number of videos where various people fling their iPad around in the most brutal fashion, tossing it down stairs, dropping it on cement, and more, and each time the Reflex case takes the hit and the tablet inside is totally unharmed. So, in short, this is an extremely protective case.

Less Tank, More Sleek Sexy Bodygaurd

Unlike the iPad 2 Defender which is more akin to a tank than an iPad case, the Otterbox Reflex case is just two pieces and takes all of 3 seconds to install. It’s like a burly but trim body gaurd for your iPad 2. Just slide the two pieces of the frame together over the iPad, and you are good to go. The case covers only a small part of the outer bezel, and leaves all the ports, buttons, and switches easily accessible.

It also comes with a screen protector that attaches to the front when the iPad is not in use, and the back when it is. The screen protector is pretty darn cool because it also turns into a nice portable stand that allows you to stand the iPad up in portrait or landscape mode, or at a more leaned back angle for easy typing.

Oh, and there’s also a clever “audio pathway” that redirects the iPad sound towards you to amplify the volume and make it easier to hear. We really liked this feature.

If you are looking for some heavy duty iPad 2 protection, but the iPad 2 Defender feels a bit like overkill, then you will certainly want to feast your fingers on Otterbox’s latest iPad 2 Reflex Series Case. All this and more can be yours for the small price of $69.95.
